As parents we only want the best for our children, the best toys, the best clothes, and the newest tech gadget for kids. However the best gift we can still give our children is education. Education should always be a priority to a parent; we should strive to send our children to go to the best school we can afford. But as all of us know education starts at home, kids learn best from their parents, and as parents we should instill to our children the value of education.
We all know that the basic backbone of a good education is reading, parents should encourage their children to get the habit of reading and enjoy reading. One good way to promote reading to kids is to read to them, how many of us parents out there still read to our children before they go to sleep, I bet only a few because of our schedules. Studies show that kids that were read upon by their parent when they where young are more inclined to study and read better as they grow older.
With all the available material out there for parents to choose from it can get pretty confusing. But one thing we all know that kids love are animals and we should use their interest in animals to encourage them to read about them. With the internet and all the game consoles out there it is pretty hard to compete with our children's attention moreover teach them how to read. Try giving your child a thick book about animals and see if he reads it for 5 minutes. But give them a magazine with a lot of pictures of animals and they will read it from beginning to end, the reason for this is because they are not intimated by magazines. They see magazines as fun, and if kids are having fun they learn better and faster.
